>>Animals in circuses have been banned for years here. Really weird in France when a circus goes past, with big cats in caged lorries - never see/seen that in the UK.

>I was camping in the south of France last year and walked past the local towns bull ring every day. Always used to think that bull fighting was solely in Spain.

Maybe it wasn't, but well could have been. Once in Frejus, in their Roman ampitheatre, I attended a "Torro-Piscine". This was like a jeux sans frontier but with live bulls running amok amongst the participants, and a small swimming pool in the centre. I saw people gored, acts of great bravery where someone would distract the bull while it was goring someone on the ground, and feats of great agility, where someone would leap the 6' high refuge barrier to escape a bull. Great laugh. Saw many people painted red the next day (that antiseptic stuff they put on all cuts and grazes in France/Italy)
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
