If you will be using the application for you own business you may want to develop with VFP. You know the risks.
I certainly would not try to suggest a new VFP application to a client. If the client had a clue about development platforms, he would probably show you the door (and give you a boost out). If the client did not understand development platforms, you might get away with it but you would do him a disservice at best.
