It kinda strikes me as cutting of your nose to spite your face. "What, you're laying off people and cutting hours/pay because revenue stream has dropped substantially? Well ok then, we'll ALL walk off the line" (blink blink) Wha???

My husband and I, with another friend, went to Las Vegas 2 weeks after 9-11 and it was practically a ghost town. The night before we left, I was watching the news and there was a report that the Hotel Worker's Union was going to have a huge meeting the next day with hotel owners. The basic point of the meeting was to try to arrange some type of 'work-trade' so that no one else would get laid off. I thought that was a heck of a union to be able to get it's members to agree to work fewer hours so that others might keep jobs.
