I missed that part. I like the idea. However, doesn't it mean that employees will be working overtime at regular hours pay in the future? Isn't that illegal?

>Its not a bad deal though the hours are banked and will have to be worked as unpaid overtime at some point in the future(if there is one) when production restarts volume will be much reduced. And workers who can find casual work in the interim will benefit.
>
>Problem is that suppliers (who don't have Honda deep pockets) are going out of business.

>>Full pay for 2 months but no production during that time? I think no production and 50-60% pay would make more sense. Probably still higher than minimum wage and would allow them to keep their employees. At least they are not just laying everyone off as most do. Good thing I'm not running it...
>>
>>>Honda Uk are stopping production for 4 months with staff on full pay for 2 months then 60% for two months.

>>>>The recession that peaked in 1982 was a very bad one. Whether this one proves to be worse remains to be seen. It's already bad enough, that's for sure. Even the sunniest current projections (not that there are many of those to be found) say this will last months longer than most recessions. And our financial institutions haven't fallen apart like this since the Great Depression.

>>>>>>You seem to be making the same assumption Bill was earlier today -- that the stimulus package is just throwing money away and piling up the debt. If it pulls us out of the economic rut we're in and gets America moving again, it will be money well spent. It will be more than recouped by increased tax revenue, reduced unemployment spending, etc.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>That's not saying it's guaranteed to work. I don't think anyone can say that with any assurance. But jeez Louise, we've got to do something. The economy is circling the drain.
