good idea. had not thought of that. could be the answer. but still want to try and use the fields list box. that is where my clients are use to seeing their fields.

the only way that i have even been able to see anything in the fields list box is if i add the table to the data environment. is this true? in 2.6 the currently selected table displayed in the fields list box. could i possibly add the results of my query to a table structure and add it to the data environment - programmatically? do you think this is possible?
