I'm curious to know what people think of the new VFP 6.0 help interface.
Personally, I prefer the old VFP 5.0 help. The 6.0 help is slow, awkward and I don't particularly care for the interface. I know it's consistent with the Visual Studio MSDN help engine but does that make it necessarily better?
I set my options to use foxhelp.chm (as described in the readme file) but it still gives me the same slow interface and only gives me VFP help if I choose the first menu item under help. Otherwise, it reverts back to the Visual Studio help with all those damned greyed out items from VB,VC++ and everything else under the Microsoft sun.
Just to do a performance test on this new help system I typed HELP TABLEUPDATE in the command window to bring up the context-sensitive help for the TABLEUPDATE command. It took 35 seconds! The only acceptable answer to this sluggy response time I can see is to leave the bloody thing open during my entire VFP session.
Please let me know if you like the new help file - I'd love to hear your opinion!
Just venting...other than that, I like 6.0!
