Thanks Marcia, but I've pretty well settled on using Field>IncludeText, so what I need to do now is figure out how to update the fields on the fly. According to Word Help, Select All (CTRL+A)>F9 updates the fields, and it works OK, so if I use the following:

set classlib to _environ additive
oenviron=createobject("_shellexecute")
oenviron.shellexecute("test.doc","c:\temp","open")

I need to know how to invoke (CTRL+A)>F9 at the command line.

Or ideally, I'd like to create the Word object and do all this stuff in the background without opening the doc at all.
Can you help me?

Thanks,
Luke
