The Enter is required as I wouldn't have any way to validate your entry. When you hit enter, if it valids ok, your should see the name of the member appearing. Otherwise, it will be back to blank. This is an enhancement someone asked recently. This is for those who know some of the member IDs and wanted to enter it directly. But, in most cases, we always recommend using the pick list as this validates automatically.
