Title:
Broadband speed analyzer
Does anyone know a way to actually check what the up/download speed of a broadband connection is? I would like something that appears like a speed meter, not just a one time test like you can get at some web sites that check your speed.
I am interested in this for a small home office. I know the cable companies, as well as DSL provide what they consider their max speeds, but I would like to evaluate this. I want to see how the load changes depening on what is being pulled down or up the connection. I am hearing from some that the companies are beginning to throttle the speed for some.
Anyone know of a free utility that could do this? The DSL goes into a router, so if I could check what is going in from there would be great.
Any help or suggestions with this would be appreciated - I don't know much about this particular subject,
