Another option is to create your own substitute, with a form and a ListBox or Grid, populated with information from adir(). However, this would be easy for a single directory, but it would take some extra work to get the ease you have with getfile(), to select other directories. Just as it is tricky with getfile() to block this feature <g>. Depending on your needs, this might not be worth the trouble.

Perhaps something pre-built can already be found; but a quick search in the download section, for getfile(), only reveals one download that seems related - download #28162 - which relies on a commercial OCX file.
