Does anyone know if we're ever going to get an SP3 for VFP9? This has been alluded to from time to time.

As I see it there are two major areas where "loose ends" could and should be tied up:

1. Dev and runtime updating:

- it's ridiculous that to correctly install VFP9 SP2 requires that VFP9 be completely uninstalled, then VFP9 RTM installed, then VFP9 SP2 applied. A proper SP3 update should be created, that can take any VFP9 installed version and update it to the latest available code
- After installing SP2, you have to be knowledgeable enough to get and apply the latest hotfix from MS: http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~CurrentVersion~SoftwareEng
- are there any special requirements to roll out SP2 and the latest hotfix to client workstations that have runtime only?
- it would be nice if an SP3 installer could also incorporate the MS08-070 security update: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS08-070.mspx

2. Bug fixes:

- there are some significant bugs remaining with SP2 e.g. http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~VFP9SP2BugList~VFP
- there are some workarounds/fixes to some of the above e.g. http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~SolutionsToVFP9SP2Bugs~VFP

but again, this is piecemeal and each developer has to go hunting for this information.

As time goes by, MS is slowly losing the VFP dev experience required to address these, if indeed it isn't lost already. The last hotfix is date June 3, 2008. Unhappily, with MS's recent announcement of layoffs, any VFP experience would be an easy target.

I think there's enough meat in the above to justify a final SP3. If it's going to happen at all, it should be sooner rather than later.
