>Well, following your instructions ( and the ones in the article you cite ) I haven't been able to find or launch the Local Security Policy Editor to turn off virtualization and installer detection. It just doesn't seem to exist. This is Vista Home Premium so I don't know if that matters or not. I don't know where LSPE "lives" but I've looked all over Control Panel, Computer Management, etc. and I can't find it so I must be missing something here. Another example why I don't care much for Vista.

>>Hi Bill.

>>>The application was writte in VFP6 ~8 years ago. Worked w/o incident on every version of Windows since then until Vista. I have found that using the Windows "Classic" format displays the windows correctly but the Vista "Aero' form does not render the windows correctly.
>>
>>Fortunately, there are fixes for that: see http://advisor.com/doc/18897.
>>
>>>I have VFP6 installed on the machine. My login is an "administrator" on the box. I copied the application folder and files to a folder on the machine to which I have full privileges. The exe name does not contain "Setup" or "Update" or anything similar. Every time the exe is launched Vista intervenes and requires me to respond to "allow" it to run.

>>Interesting. What happens if you turn off "installer detection":
>>
>>- Run the Local Security Policy editor (click Start, type "sec", and Local Security Policy will likely be first in the list)
>>- Choose Local Policies, Security Options
>>- Double-click "User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation" and choose Disabled
>>- Restart your system

It looks like neither secpol.msc nor gpedit.msc are available on any "Home" versions: http://www.maxi-pedia.com/what+is+the+difference+between+gpedit.msc+and+secpol.msc

Unless someone can create a .reg file for you, it looks like you'll have to dig up the appropriate registry settings and set them manually via regedit.
