Findfast is a tool shipped with MS Office. It works like a preemptive seek tool. It builds a list of the Most Recently Used documents by users, in order to speed up opening of files. It's a background task, like a TSR, so it can cause GPFs.

I had this problem on my computer with Office 95, so I decided to remove it from my startup group.
Analysing the problem I've found that this prog builds a files list, and this list can encounter locking problems on disk.

As far as the main advantage of that kind of tool is to speed up doc opening..., and as far as my computer isn't a i8086 based model...
