>>>I've used GoToMyPC with a number of clients with excellent success. However, the remote control experience is not as good as RDP.
>>>
>>>The huge advantage of LogMeIn, GoToMyPC etc. over RDP is that they "traverse" firewalls i.e. they don't require that net admins open incoming TCP/IP ports (which can cause security headaches). They work around this by having each host PC regularly ping an intermediate ("gateway") server. This pinging has to be pretty frequent to have the host respond reasonably quickly to a remote control request. So, quite a bit of outbound network traffic is generated from each host.

>>I agree with all the advantages you listed and that is why I am thinking about starting to reccomend LogMeIn to my customers. In addition if the customer has a dynamic IP address LogMeIn keeps track of all that and I don't have to constantly call the customer to get the latest external IP address.

>Maybe it's because, fundamentally, services like LogMeIn are run through an intermediary/gateway server, which can snoop the traffic. A rogue employee at LogMeIn or GoToMyPC could do a *lot* of damage. These services go to great lengths to secure their operations e.g. https://www.gotomypc.com/downloads/pdf/m/GoToMyPC_Security_White_Paper.pdf , but the fact remains they are a "man in the middle", which opens up security vulnerabilities that are just not present in a point-to-point RDP session.

You could also look at Yuugu or Microsoft SharedView. Both are free.
