>>>>I need to get someone a very simple MP3 player that has very easy to use software to load songs on to it. My girl loves her iPod, but the iTunes software is much more complicated to use (for me anyway) that it needs to be. A friend of mine - not computer literate much - wants to get a player and I want to make it as foolproof as possible. I've tried to just copy songs onto an iPod, but if you don't use the iTunes, it doesn't seem to work. Any recommendations for either the player or the software?

>>>CC, iTunes allows you to include other libraries (folders) on your pc, doesn't it? You can include the folders with other tunes on. I've done this with other uploaded files, eg those I got from Limewire, and tracks ripped from CDs.

>>Yes, and it is annoyingly unintuitive. Every time she wants something added to her iPod I have to relearn how to do it. And there is never time to write down the steps.

>I have an older SanDisk e250 2 gig mp3 player with a slot and a 2 gig micro SD card for a total of 4 gigs. It plays standard mp3s and it also does mpeg videos (though the screen's a bit small). It has 2 modes - MSC (Mass Storage Class) and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). If you just leave it in MSC mode, you can simply drag and drop mp3s into the music folder on the player and it's good to go. For WMV files you need to use the other mode and a conversion program that comes with it. Oh, yes, it also records and does FM radio. One of the really nice things about it is the micro SD card. Most mp3 players are stuck at whatever memory they come with. Although, admittedly, 2 gig cards are the biggest it can handle because it doesn't use NTSF.

That sounds like it would work for him. Is the PC to Player interface pretty simple? The drag and drop is like copying between folders? If that's the case, then I will take it. Send me an email and let me know what you want for it and I'll send a mailing address. Thanks!
