I wrote a factory floor job costing system in Foxbase 2.1 for Unix somewhere around 1987 or 1988.
All modules but one have since been converted to VFP9 as they were updated over the years, but one module never changed and is still using @SAY and @GET and is runing the original foxbase code, about 30 times a day.
It has never so much as hiccuped.
How's that for ROI?

>So, what's the longest-running custom-built application you've seen out in Fox-land? Can anyone top 5,800+ days of daily use of an application? I have an application that went live on 1/1/93 and has been running daily ever since.

I don't know how old either of these apps is, but I've encountered two FoxPro/DOS apps in the wild in the last few years.

One was running at the appliance dealer when we bought a fridge about 7 years ago. They used it for scheduling deliveries.

The other was a point-of-sale app used to ring up purchases in a roadside cafeteria in the middle of Slovakia. I saw it in June, 2008. I went to pay for my lunch and was stunned to see an FP/DOS app. I grabbed a camera and took some pictures.
