Yes, I'm just surprised sometimes that for a country going broke, it sure spends a lot of money...

Even though its returns may be smaller in the longrun, it may beat the LHC for the race for the 'God Particle:'

Also, I couldn't find (quickly) how much the U.S. government contributed to Tevatron and how much was private spending.
