One of the reasons why I like shows like 'The Mentalist', 'Life' and 'Eleventh Hour' is that these shows have female characters that spend a lot of time standing, or walking on less than optimal surfaces, or (oh my gosh) chasing bad guys and they are wearing shoes that will survive such activities. Not to mention allows the people to survive such activities.

Don't get me wrong, I like 'CSI' and 'CSI:New York' but just shake my head in disgust when these women show up in spike heels and 'cockroach killer' toes to work the scene. Personally, I would just purely LOVE to see a female character stop and pull out some tennis shoes or something like that, pull off the spikes and put them on BEFORE they go stomping around. Besides, do you REALLY want to get blood on those Jimmy Choo's?
