>OK, so I create a CD with vfp9.dll , vfp9enu.dll , msvcr71.dll and test.exe. Test.exe is a vfp 9 exe that simple shows a message box on the screen. If I attempt to run this from the CD on a machine with no runtimes and no config.fpw the program bombs out with the 'cannot create resources' error.

It's probably the foxuser resource file your app is trying to create and/or update. Turn resources OFF in your config.fpw -file and see if that helps.

However, as soon as your application tries to open a dbf, it will try to write to disk (update file header), in which case you run into the same problem yet again.

How about using a USB flash drive instead?
