>>>Well, I was never very good at word games. :)
>>
>>Speaking of word games, I was reading an article in The New Yorker last night about Scrabble. I am not a Scrabble nut, have not played it in a long time, but the article was so well written I read it all the way to the end. One little part made me laugh out loud. It mentioned a Simpsons episode in which Homer drew "oxidize" and played "do" (LOL).

>>Apparently online Scrabble (called by various names) is huge. There are loads of players, some of whom play it obsessively like junkies.

>I used to play Scrabble a lot when I was much younger. But I only played head to head. I refused to play 3 or 4 person games. When you play against more than one person, you can't control the game.

>I've never played online. I wonder what stops people from using dictionaries and/or anagram software.

Nothing, really. The author of the article said other players can kinda tell by the delays. It said most online players like fast games lasting 10 minutes or so, partly for this reason. The author's assertion was that 50 minutes is a comfortable time for an offline Scrabble game.
