>Did anyone watch Obama's address to Congress?
>
>OK, now this dude had moved into the category of outright liar. No earmarks? Hahahahah....the average American will burp, pull the tab on a new beer, and move on. But the truth is that the latest spending bill has between $4 Bn and $8 Bn in earmarks depending the interpreter,

>Now they're pushing through a bill to give the District of Columbia voting representatives. Seems fair, right? But it's UNCONSTITUTIONAL, The only way legally to do this is through a Constitutional Amendment. But, golly gee, that would be inconvenient to Congress do we'll just overlook that aspect.

>All you idiots who voted for this guy without knowing what he realy stood for and are singing his praises still are clueless or ... I dunno ... fascists. He's boiling the frogs, folks. If you don't know the analogy look it up.

No kidding John. No earmarks in the stimulus and none in the spending bill. An absolute load of crap that he manages to package as fine food for the masses.

And you are right about the DC issue too. It was intended to be a Federal city free of having to worry about influencing lawmakers for its existence...and conversely to keep its lawmakers - if they had been permitted by the Constitution - from having undue influence on the decisions made in that city. Refer to major league sports..."Build me a bigger stadium or we are out of here!" Imagine if our country had to deal with that all the time.

The founders were wise....highly intelligent....and very thoughtful. They debated at great length, gave serious deliberation to each decision they were asked to make, and put country above all. Patriots. The current crop of clowns, the head Bozo, and nearly all legislators for the past several decades have left EVERY ONE OF THOSE NOBLE ATTRIBUTES in the sewer

And before I hear any "well it was worse when Bush was in office" nonsense, read what I said carefully and note that I am not limiting my comments to just the CURRENT crop of clowns. We started veering off course a long time ago and it is coming back to haunt us in spades.

The fact that our legislators - even with staffs of minions - cannot even come CLOSE to comprehending what they are being asked to vote on seems to point that our Government, itself, is unmanageable. How then can we expect them to manage?

Is there anyone here who honestly...and I mean HONESTLY...thinks we will have better health care, or coverage for everyone, once the government takes over? We will have CHEAPER health care, and LESS health care, and a huge new expensive buracracy to RUN health care, but I dare say it will not be better. If you are one who honestly thinks it will be better, please provide an example of ANYTHING the government has been largely in charge that even remotely resembles "good" - much less world-class. VA Hospitals? Military base hospitals/health care/housing? Amtrack? Military procurement? primary education?

(And in keeping with the tone of this site...how about SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT? Anyone notice the overly large number of expensive software packages we "procured" that never work? How about air traffic control? That 1960's technology will result in a catastrophic death toll before anyone in Washnigton wakes up and wonders what happened)

Now we will have an automobile industry and a financial industry that have been reduced to Amtrack (current plans) as well as housing, health care, prescription drug procurement and college education (the next wave).

The executive branch will, by the end of the year, take the Census to a place it was never intended to be (completely and utterly politicized) and the result will be a never-ending stream of redistricting lawsuits, recounts, estimates rather than physical inventory, and changes to the methodology which will add inertia to the governments "death spiral"

But with a smile, soaring rhetoric and the belief by 52% of Americans that change == better, we will soon find this country in tatters.

I am a republican, yes, but that quit being relevant long ago too. For example, my state's own senior senator - the minority leader - announced support for government-based buying of mortgages and "giving" 4% loans. Good bye, Mitch. I don't give two bits about the letter after the name. Are they legislators as described above? If so, they should stay. Otherwise, we need new ones.
