China can ask for whatever assurances they like. ("Former advisers" are in an especially good position to make meaningless requests <g>). That doesn't mean we have to give it to them. Maybe they should have considered risk when they invested so heavily in the U.S. Is there some Far East concept of guaranteed returns? We sure don't have that concept here.
