Scope was introduced in dBase II or III (I'm sometimes bad with names :), and the "in {alias}" clause is relatively recent - VFP 6, and the help for the scope wasn't updated to say that these two can be combined. As usual in Fox, it was implied that they can be - the scope operators are sort of intuitive. I remember an old Cobol programmer who was so happy with the ways the scope and for/while clauses could be mixed in so many places, he went into history for saying "I feel like a kid in a candy store - even better, whatever I imagine is there to try, and it works!". That was mFoxPlus times...
