>I only remember one Commander Cody song -- "Hot Rod Lincoln."

A great bar band - not so much recording. "Lost in the Ozone" pretty good. Best part was his piano - not near as good as Bill Payne of Little Feat, but similar.

Dixie Chicken anyone ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FekVR_SC5M

>>The Andrews Sisters did "Beat Me Daddy" back in the 40s but the Commander Cody was much more hard rocking boogie woogie. I think it's on Lost in the Ozone.
>>
>>There are a dozen examples of the song on youtube - all with arrangements that suck - except this one that sounds like a Commander Cody cover band - at least they use his arrangement so it gives something of the Texas roadhouse flavor of it

>>>I didn't know that was the name of a song. There is a line that goes the same way in a song by The Rainmakers, "Let My People Go Go." Now there was a great rock band. They released three or four terrific CDs in the 1980s and then disappeared. Remember trusting me on Talking Heads eons ago? Trust me on this one, too. I see it's no longer in print but you can get it from a reseller.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
