>>>I remember the title, and of course I have it on my disk - translated, and published with other 200+ SF novels on a CD that I bought just about at the last moment before coming here :). The book itself is as old as I, and was published in SFRY sometime in the seventies, IIRC. One of the few at the time that I didn't read (or don't remember, which is also possible).

>Accidentally, though, the other evening I took a look at the miniseries "Day of the triffids" - which was almost exactly the way I remember the book (from the same edition). Though it seems to have wasted the whole first episode in building the background, but then it makes it all the more plausible because of that.
Death of Grass is bleaker than Day of the Triffids. My daughter really liked The Chrysalids also by Wyndham.
