I wonder how much of that is the custom of thinking that your children will be there to take care of you in your old age.

At least the FDIC taking over banks that fail is still working with insured funds (premiums paid for by banks). I understand there is 65 billion in reserves for this year.

The head of the FDIC said that it may be insolvent within 6 months, That is why I said earlier that the bail outs should be used to shore up the FDIC and protect the savings of the tax payers from whom all this bail out money has been taken instead of using it to keep GM from filing chapter 11 (which would probably be a good thing all in all to get them out from under the stranglehold of the unions who were whooping it up in Miami last week, putting all those union dues to good use behind closed doors)
