>>>Please, people overly happy with having first Afro-american president do not pay attention to small details.

>>Regardless of the merits of the pro/anti Obama discussion points, I find the mildest way of describing this statement to be "offensive." Expressing my true feelings would violate just about every behavior rule Michel has installed here.

>Don't worry. I can take your true feelings at face value. Go ahead and share them. I would be especially like to know what kind of rules you found broken.

You did not violate any of Michel's rules. In re-reading what I said, I find it hard to understand how you could think I said you had. Had I framed my reply the way my emotions wanted me too, my language would have been sufficient to get me banned.

From your reply to Tracy
"Could you explain in rational terms what was so offensive in my message, especially when it is presented in cut down form? I may figure out that some people woud not like couple facts presented in the second part of the message. However, cutting them out and talking about 'offensive' calls for explanation."

I thought by cutting them out that it would be apparant that I was calling only the first statement offensive. I thought that by stating "Regardless of the merits......." that it was apparant I was not discussing the merits of your arguements. Perhaps had I posted it as

"Please, people overly happy with having first Afro-american president..........."

you would have gotten my point.

I tend not to particpate in the Politics forum. Partly because I am not nearly as articulate as many of the other posters. Partly because others express my views better than I can. But mostly because, regardless of the merits of the arguements I am offended by the petty slurs against, and disparagement of, the intelligence and motives of those with opposite views. My personal opinion is that these comments derive mostly (not exclusively) from the "right-wing" posters (especially since Perry no longer posts here).

I found your first comment deeply offensive. I'm happier that he's left-handed than that he's Afro-american. I don't give a flying #$%$ (sorry Michel), about his race. I'm offended by your implication that race is a primary reason people voted for him, just as you would be offended by comments that the majority of McCain supporters voted for him because they couldn't stomach the idea of "one of them" in the White House.
