>>More seriously, have you watched "The Sopranos" or "The Wire"? "Seinfeld", which is in reruns every day of the week? Anyone who watches those and still considers American TV a wasteland, well, I don't know.

>I didn't care to watch 'The Sopranos' ,same with 'Seinfeld' (never particularly cared for Jerry Seinfeld stand-up work'; but really liked 'The Wire'. But I do have to point out that Sopranos and Wire are both cable shows, not network.

>I think one of the reasons why the good Brit-Coms are so good is that when they run out of ideas for the show, they stop. It's a little crazy-making for those of us who were brought up that a 'full season' was 26 weeks (then cut to 13) to run into a 'full season' of a Brit-Com being 4 shows.
IIRC when I was a kid in the 60s, seasons were 39 episodes. There was a new show every week except during summer reruns. Now shows are so expensive to produce (other than reality shows and game shows) I don't think anyone could afford to make that many.
