Just wanted to take a look at the Universal Thread and found a few messages I couldn't resist to reply. :)

I haven't tried this. Because of some bugs TO FILE is necessary, otherwise VFP would report the wrong number of pages sometimes. But it shouldn't be a difference whether this is an actual file or NUL. Good idea!
