What's the default font on the printer? The font selection really doesn't do much if you're outputting to the generic text printer (except for possibly causing weird output if you don't choose a monospace font). To select the font you either do that from the front panel, or send the appropriate control characters or escape character sequence to select the font prior to outputting to the printer (and as far as what the appropriate character sequence -- it depends on the printer).
