You may not believe it but your logical reasoning on this issue is 100% copycat from the Marxism-Leninism textbooks that were mandatory study in one country that you would prefer never existed.

History has shown the failings of Socialism just as it is showing today the failings of Capitalism. Our job is to learn from this and try to craft a system that incorporates the best of both systems while avoiding their excesses. Besides, you already have Socialist services to a large degree (law enforcement, military/security, kids' schooling) and the world did not end when that happened.

Individual rights are more important than responsibilities, and believe me I had chance to answer this question long time ago.

But isn't this the same criticism leveled at the so-called undeserving, that they value their rights more highly than their responsibilities? Now it seems that you do too, except that in your case it is a noble sentiment, apparently.

The reality is that unless rights are balanced by responsibility including consideration of others' rights and how your preferences will impact on them, you're back to Anarchy again. Often there is a sort of nirvana at first but selfishness and irresponsibility always wrecks it in the end.

Individual rights constitute human nature, that's the essence differing humans from animals. Responsibilities are secondary, i.e. they are invented to protect these rights, or to suppress them, depending on inventors.

OK, Living in NY I assume you live in an apartment. You are allowed to enjoy music in your apartment, but not as loud as you like. Why? Because your neighbors have the right to enjoy some peace and quiet. Both you and they have responsibilities in order to achieve your own rights: your responsibility is to keep it down; theirs to accept that you can play music as long as you keep it down. Most likely a set of rules has been drawn up to reflect your respective rights and responsibilities in these matters. And if somebody breaches, you definitely can do something about it.

If this was replaced with a Wild West scenario where people are allowed to focus on their own rights, you might turn your stereo up and to h*ll with the neighbors, and your electrician neighbor might shut you down by cutting the power to your apartment. So now we have replaced a scenario of reasonable consideration and acceptance of rules/responsibilities for the greater good, with an escalation of violence.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
