I have found that the frx listener / frx interpretation based PDF engines do not work on complex reports (xfrx, frx2any, etc.). Additionally reports with images can come out with sub-par image quality and/or the file size of the PDF's can bloat. I fought and fought with frx2any for years trying to get it to work in my vertical market application and finally (3 months ago) I gave up. It was incapable of interpreting my complex reports properly.

The ghostscript pdf solution works great unless you have a vertical market application, because you can't distribute ghostscript with a commercial application and the ghostscript commercial license is OSCENELY expensive:
Print2PDF download #13851
IF you don't have a commercially distributed application I would use this option.

For my vertical market application I have gone to using a virtual PDF printer:

While certainly not cheap, I can now virtually guarantee that no matter how complex my reports, the PDF render will be exact.
