On mine, the image starts drawing at the top of the form and takes almost a full second until it finishes drawing itself at the bottom. Your sample form behaves the same way on my machine. Curious...

It's just that your control was closing the grid's data source because when it opened the VCX as a table, it wasn't opening it a new work area.
