>First time listener and first time caller... Found this site in a Google search and it seemed to have a lot of traffic, so here I am. Is it a good one for NET?

I've have been the sole developer for a number of years - I own the code - and now want to start learning and moving it to C# (I think). I'm in a position to take the time to learn NET and improve the application, so I'm looking for resources to help me get started. I know nothing about it, other than what I've read online.

Hello, Lynda, and welcome. I think you have come to a pretty good place to help you with the transition to C#. Many here have done the same thing. I am one of the more recent ones and in fact am still learning .NET. It's huge so I expect I will still be learning things about it for years to come.
What I like best about the UT is the regulars are not only knowledgeable but extremely helpful. You have already heard from Bonnie, Cetin, and Viv, all of whom have helped me a lot. Bonnie and Cetin have both won Microsoft's MVP award multiple times for their online contributions and Viv wuz robbed the past couple of years. (Viv is a he, BTW).
One piece of advice I can give you is to start writing some C# code as soon as possible. There is a big difference between reading about something and using it. I started hitting C# pretty hard last summer, mostly reading books and watching some online videos. It was kind of a surprise when I started coding some example exercises and discovered I didn't know it nearly as well as I had thought. And once I did start writing code, things started to lock in. Still a long way to go but I'm getting there. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway <g>.
Have fun with it, and don't be shy about asking questions here. Some of the resident gurus are saints IMO for patiently answering the same questions over and over.
