The original file that I download from the company's web site is a csv file. If I open the csv with Excel, and then SAVE IT as a csv out of Excel, THEN import it into VFP, it parses correctly.

Will the code that you posted in this response avoid (or make invisible) that intermediate step so that instead of going:

csv ->excel ->csv ->VFP

it will go:

csv ->your code ->VFP ?
