What are the differences between remote views opened with the statement handle vs. the connection string?

I switched from the Use .... ConnString cString to Use ... ConnString nHandle to improve performance but it has caused a host of serious problems. I get sporadic 'Connection Busy' messages and, when testing via remote desktop, received some serious error messages including a "Server System Failure" message that terminated the RDC session. Obviously, using the statement handle requires some other modifications. What are they? Is there a difference between the lShared parameter and the cString,lSharable form of SqlStringConnect? Obviously performance is of little importance if the application no longer runs!
