But one would hope not a *hasty* pudding <bg>

I confess I am prejudiced based on my not doing much web work so I'm not feeling the pull to the "richer user experience" silverlight and WPF promises. I think it's cool, it's just nobody is throwing money at me to do it. I'm still transitioning from data apps in vfp/vfe/sql to .net winforms/strataframe/sql. I am just starting to play with WPF/WCF and hope to find somebody next year to back up a truckload of money to my office and beg to give me a richer developer experience to do more gooey stuff <bg> I figure by that time Microfour (and others) should have a one year more evolved collection of tools to use.

In any case, fun stuff and I look forward to it.

>>>I have no knowledege about Strataframe's plans, but my guess is they're moving forward full speed ahead. WPF is the future. VS2010 has been completely rebuilt in WPF.
>>
>>All quite true, but re-engineering a framework - resulting in what would currently be a considerable performance hit - while MS has not yet released VS2010 would be chasing. I would prefer that right now they concentrate on data munging performance and keep the framework flexible enough that those who choose to go off in their own directions on UI can still use it.
>>
>>That said, I look forward to WPF/WCF - I just have learned over the years that being on the bleeding edge of MS technologies doesn't increase billable hours dramatically. I'll let the salaried folks convince their bosses this is a "must have" immediately <bg>

>>>>I use and love Strataframe but right now Microfour has decided to let Microsoft mature WPF for a while before reengineering the framwork for it. They have tested it extensively and found the performance hits at this point over what strataframe can do with serious data munging is just too great to justify it. There is also some scepticism about MS's 'flavor of the week'. I know that they are watching it closely and working with it outside the framework, but I think you'll find real professional framework developers are very focused on core functionality and performance.

>>>>I know they'd be happy to discuss this further and I'd recommend you drop in on the strataframe forum and ask questions ( I don't speak for Microfour, just passing on what I learned of their thoughts on WPF when taking the Strataframe training class in Amarillo last summer ) It is worth checking out in any case.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
