I haven't tried this first hand but I had one of our consultants looking at the problem and he said he could create a data source from Word 97 using MS Query. If you click the Create Data Source button in the mail merge dialog it pops up a dialog with a MS Query button. You don't need Access. I can get into the query program on my home machine and it doesn't (and never has) Access installed. The consultant was able to set it up on his machine even though he did not have FoxPro files as an option under open data sources. I believe MS Query uses ODBC so it will be able to utilize the drivers in Data Access Components to read VFP tables.
