>But I have to admit that I am quickly getting out of my depth here, since I am not a linguist and English is not my native language. After learning the horrendous sentence deconstruction rules of the Finnish language I had nothing left for the English grammar (or Swedish or German, for that matter) that my teachers tried to pour into my already swollen brain.

If Finnish is as much fun as its cousin Hungarian, I guess the structure differs from Indoeuropean languages like Forth from procedural languages :). The months when you learn your first language from the other side of the fence (i.e. from a different family - the IE languages being one, and ugro-finnish group the other) get your head spinning along several axles at the same time, but once it clicks into place, it's fun again.

I once set to watch a movie in Finnish, assuming that knowing Hungarian will help. Well, tough luck - I understood a total of one word, and that was where the suffix was the same... well, (no idea of how to spell this) "telkare" ("onto the screen") was familiar because "telka" is slang espression for TV, and -re for "onto" is the same in Hungarian. Now from this one word I think you can guess what I was watching :)
