I think you would really enjoy the Telluride Film Festival. It's an absolutely beautiful area (one of my favorites - make sure you drive the entire San Juan drive) with some terrific foreign films every September usually Labor Day weekend. When I was living in Grand Junction, we would drive down every year. There were also some great music festivals there that we attended every year.
