Thanks Naomi and Dragan and Edward,

It is just for a quick browse nowait save on the startup of a vfp session to show me in my joblog what i was doing last in a given project. If I scroll in the browse and then close it, whether I make any changes or not, I would like to save the record I was on last.

My apps typically save the last record for lots of things, but I did not know how to catch a bare browse record automatically.

It did not occur to me that the record is still where it was, but my startup is done by then and the saved browse is still there.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Al

>>Is there a way to use a record validation rule during a browse to get the current record number or key out to a variable, if no field data has been changed to fire the rules or triggers? The purpose is to save the last record number from a browse if no fields were changed and the browse was closed.
