>I wouldn't call this "mixed metaphors". I'm just twisting and trying the familiar phrases. And, ahem, along the way - if we say "do A and B", we can also say "do B and A", assuming that if there was some particular order about them, we'd say "do A, then B". So... "try and do x" is equivalent to "do x and try"... which will be an interesting exercise, which I will do and try from time to time.
Don't know what you're on about. You did mix your metaphors, whether you intended to or not.
Your "try and do x" is equivalent to "do x and try" refers t the quirk of English whereby if we want to say "try to do X" we can say "try and do X".
Another quirk is "This ice cream needs
to be put in the freezer before it melts" can be said "This ice cream needs
putting in the freezer ...", and even more corrupt "This ice cream
wants putting in the freezer ..." (but i'm not sure if that's a Brit-only usage)
BTW What's up with all this [unspellable] stuff you're putting in messages lately? You've never had any problem in the past, and some are easily spellable.
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
