>>>>>The program could delete all of the files on a person's computer, use zombie PCs -- those controlled by a master -- to overwhelm and shut down Web sites or monitor a person's keyboard strokes to collect private information like passwords or bank account information, experts said.

I would up navigating to taskman.exe and launching before I could stop some of the processes. It was wicked. If you tried to launch malware, superantispyware, AVG or anything else virus related, it would kill the window. Killed the window if you tried going to trendmicro.com, symantec, etc. too. We had two pcs with this problem. I wound up formatting and reinstalling. Good for me, but bad for them. We now run Malware, SuperAntiSpyware and AVG on every pc!

>>>Um, hello John. Is there ANYONE on the UT who doesn't know who/what you are? :-)

>>I doubt that anyone knew I was a consultant for a suburb of Memphis, and I'm no longer a consultant with the MPD. I am now a regular employee - Systems Manager of the Real Time Crime Center, which is a part of the Memphis Police Department. So, I was letting you know that the issue had nothing to do with the MPD, but a smaller municipality, who had previously used someone that left their stuff in a shambles. Some of the XP boxes need over 60 updates when I took over in January. We avoided a big disaster by doing all the upgrades on every pc.

>Sorry, my bad. I assumed you'd been doing this since you retired from the bizzies, esp as you didn't say "I'm now a consultant ...".
>
>And just the other day you posted up about your new system. So assumed it was with your job and all hands would know it. How's Greg shaping up BTW (or have I got the wrong end of the night-stick there)?

My brother commandeered Greg, so I haven't had much communication with him. Jim tells me he is doing fine. We'll probably kill him with all the work we have for him! I think he likes working with us, and lord knows we need his help. We don't have any other programmers, except for one from the University of Memphis and me."The harvest is plenty, but the workers are few."
