>Maybe it's how you eat them? I've noticed that the salad is served as a separate dish before the main course. Which I tried about twice and just couldn't take it - and I love salads (my best lunch mate was a guy who doesn't eat anything vegetable but rice and potatos... so he'd just take one extra salad for me). To me, salad is a side-dish. That's probably how we eat, bit of this then bit of that then bit of this again, and get the tastes mix up. Eating them separately doesn't let them interact much and gives you too much of one thing while excluding everything else. IOW, I love salads and I'd eat them with almost any main dish - but as a standalone dish... a bit here and there, but not regularly.

We have salad as a side dish with dinner almost every night. I do eat main dish salad now and then, especially when out for lunch, I need something else with it (soup or bread or something).
