>>I am proud to say even when I was very much a kid I thought My Three Sons, Father Knows Best, Ozzie and Harriett, the Donna Reed Show etc sucked. the idea that adults watched them kind of scares me and makes me want to firebomb nursing homes.

>And didn't 'John from Cincinnati' inhale deeply? We were so torqued off about Deadwood ending. Firefly we kinda expected - having lived through Babylon 5 and the networks.

But Firefly had a killer cast who all landed on their feet and the brilliant Joss Whedon behind it. Summer Glau, Gina Torres, Baldwin, Nathan Fillion. Sci Fi and a Western. How can that not run for 10 years ( of course we have to make room on the airwaves for Howie Do it, Deal or no Deal and Fear Factor. ) Makes you question the premise behind popular democracy

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
