(I may have ranted about this before)
This hits one of my flash points so............

I grew up in NYC and have lived for at least 4 years in
Upstate New York
Florida
Iowa
Texas
Cafilornia

(With the exception of the bridge tournaments I played in), I met far more outright rudeness in Florida and Texas than I ever did in NYC. I was told (by a lady raised in GA - and confirmed by my TN raised sister-in-law) that the true definition of a "Southern Lady" is "someone who is never rude unintentionally." By a large margin, the "friendliest" state was IA (with the exception of those that felt a need to save my soul when they found out I am Jewish.)
