Carolina played well enough the first 10-15 minutes to carry them through. They had scored 40 points before you knew it. Villanova was foolish enough to get drawn into a running game with them. They never really did get unraveled.

I hadn't given Michigan State much chance (had them going out in the second round as part of my annual dis of the Big Ten in the tournament) but they have really impressed me. They have now beaten two very good teams, Louisville and Connecticut, by double digits in consecutive games. And they will more or less be playing a home game tomorrow night. Michigan has been going through even harder times than the rest of us and it would be nice to see them have something to be happy about, even if it's only a ballgame.

Too bad they can't bring in a new announcing crew. Jim Nantz is far from my favorite. He sounds so corporate and he makes a lot of mistakes. And he NEVER corrects himself. In the Michigan State game last night he made two bad miscalls in the space of a minute and didn't follow up on either one of them. I think the most passionate he got was reading the promos for upcoming CBS shows ;-)
