Actually it's no security at all - I just needed something to hold the wire attached to the door, but movable. The piece came with the house - it was on the shed (but not the key). So I kept the lock as an unnecessary dangle which would be too hard to remove, and it served well to confuse the guests who were welcomed by the open door but now had to figure out how to get out :).
