I have a bit more information. The Scanner's model is Dolphin 7900. We need to develop an application on the Scanner that would communicate with the workstation. It would download a file with parts to the scanner, would have some screen to select part by category and create an order (or something like this), communicate this info to workstation. From workstation we're going to transfer orders file to FTP Server and then back to the existing VFP application.

So, for the Scanner and communication with the workstation what would you recommend. Also I never dealt with such applications before in either language. Also we may need some estimate as how long the writting application process may take in any choosen language and what do we have to install on the Scanner and workstation in order for them to utilize this application.

So, these are my newbie's questions in this regard and I would appreciate any input.

Thanks a lot in advance.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
