My complaint with the 500 warning is that it will not show you *any* results, and it makes you re-factor your search to get below the 500 limit.
I don't mind getting the message and then dismissing it, as long as it will go ahead and show me the first 500 after the message is dismissed.
>>I'm getting more and more frustrated when I do a search and get that message about "500 results limit, please re-define your search." or whatever it says.
>>
>>If that's the case, just show the 500 most recent, rather than making me guess what date cut-off to use in order to get under that limit, or, I have to guess what other words I can throw in there to get less results.
>>
>>Just show me the 500 most recent (from the date range I entered), and let me filter through them.
>>
>>For instance, I just tried a search for "Grid" and "RecordSource", and I got that messgage. Ok, sure, there's more than 500, no suprise. It's a broad search, but I'm a big boy, just give me what I asked for. That doesn't mean I still don't want to see them, and I'll take it from there. I know many of the results may not apply to what I am looking for, but, we've all become pretty good at reading the subject line of a search and knowing whether it might contain some helpful info or not.
>>
>>So, Big Mike, please consider this.
>>
>>Well, while I popping off here.... Also, that two-letter-word limit needs to go. It's fine if you ignore it when applying the search, but please don't send up a message and stop my search. Just keep going. I think we all know that those words are too short to index or search, but sometimes we type them in any way because it is just a more fluid and complete descritpion of what we want. If you need to ignore them, then do so, but halting the search over the matter is a little bit of a old-school approach.
>>
>>Think about any search engine we use today...No complaint about the number of results and no complaint about two letter words. We do it in Google every day.

>You are getting more than 500 and complaining! < g > The sory os almost always different for me. I search for my own messages using the exact same words I used in message (well afterall it is my code and I remember what variables/function etc I used in it) and get "No message correspond to blah blah." . Which one of us in a poorer condition now:) You have a chance to narrow down by dates.
